Hollis Street, Emeryville

This 13,903 square foot commercial Tenant Improvement renovated an industrial space into office modern, with new vibrant and collaborative work spaces after the pandemic. The new office provides inspiring and communal spaces for an electrical engineering and lighting design firm.

The original 1912 factory building, converted in the 1980s to offices, had a dark warren-like first floor with exposed wood ceilings, steel trusses, and expansive clerestories on the mezzanine level.  New mezzanine floor openings were added, and existing openings were enlarged to bring the abundant upper-level light to the first floor. The offices and conference rooms, collaborative spaces, were given extensive frameless glazing for visual connections throughout and a special focus on the mezzanine kitchen and communal table to facilitate bonding during work hours.
